Making Waves at the Head of the Oklahoma

The young women of Founders Rowing Club began their 2017-2018 campaign, making waves at the 2017 Head of the Oklahoma Regatta.  Crews from across the United States converged upon Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 7-8, 2017, from as far away as California and Florida, to participate in the annual event, consisting of a 4 kilometer head race time trial, and the 'one-and-only' Night Sprints, a 500 meter sprint race that takes place under stadium lighting in the darkness of night, with the beautiful Oklahoma City skyline as a backdrop.

Founders Girls raced in Singles, Doubles, and Quads earning Top 3 finishes and medals in four events: 1st in the Women's Youth Quadruple Scull 500m Night Sprint, 2nd in the Women's Youth Lightweight Double Scull Head Race,  3rd in the Women's Youth Quadruple Scull Head Race, and 3rd in the Women's Youth Single Scull Head Race.

The level of competition at this year's event was elevated by the attendance of crews from Redwood Scullers/Stanford Rowing Center and Sarasota Crew who attended with full athlete contingents.  We are excited to have been able to test our early season speed against other strong teams. This young team from Dallas impressed anyone who was watching, with its race performances and character.
