Founders Rowing Earns 2014 National Championship Berths

For the second year in a row, Founders Rowing Club of Dallas, TX, has earned berths to compete in the 2014 USRowing Youth National Championships, on Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, California, June 13-15, 2014. The team will proudly send six athletes to compete at the highest level of the sport of rowing.

The club will proudly represent Dallas, the State of Texas, and the Central Region as the only all-girls, high performance rowing club in the region and one of few nationally.

The six-athlete contingent representing three different Dallas area schools, including Hockaday and the Episcopal School of Dallas, will compete in two events, the Womens Double and Womens Quadruple sculls. Impressively, three of the six athletes who earned National Championship berths have participated in the sport for less than one year.

Founders Rowing Club qualified to compete at the 2014 Championship event, by performing during the Central Youth District Rowing Championships on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, on May 10 & 11, where the team won four medals: Womens Novice Double – Gold, Womens Novice Quad – Gold, Womens Varsity Double – Silver, and Womens Varsity Quad – Bronze.

Since its formation in May 2012, Founders Rowing Club, headquartered in the Park Cities and coached by a former Junior Women’s National Team coach, fosters a passionate, competitive spirit, and focuses on the development of self-esteem, character, and confidence in the athlete.

Performance on the water is achieved through a combination of training for endurance, strength and technique in a fun, “work-hard, play-hard” environment.

Founders Rowing Club is currently looking for motivated athletes. Those interested in learning more about rowing or wanting to participate in one of the club’s “Learn to Row” clinics this summer should contact team staff with interest at row@foundersrowing.org
