Founders Juniors to Attend RowWest

Dallas, April 2022 - Southlake Carroll Juniors, Maile (MY-LEE) Nelson and Sophia Rhodes have been tapped to attend RowWest this summer. RowWest is a selective high-performance racing camp in Los Angeles, accepting under 30 athletes annually. The criteria for admissions are erg score, grades, racing resume, statement of purpose, video and coaches recommendation.

Sophia began her rowing career in 2020 during COVID. Sophia is also an outstanding basketball player who played Varsity at Southlake Carroll until she committed exclusively to rowing in Fall 2021.

Maile began rowing during the last summer of 2019. She was the only novice that fall and had the unusual opportunity of participating at the Head of the Charles as her second ever competition. Prior to joining Founders Rowing Club, Maile was an elite gymnast. At 5'10" she has grown out of gymnastics.

Both Sophia and Maile are members of the Southlake Organization, Student Athletes Serving Others (SASO) as well as being members of the National Honor Society.

The final week at this 4 week camp will take the group to Tennessee, where they will compete in Summer Nationals. We wish our Founders Athletes great success! 2022 is going to be a great year for our athletes.
